This Motorola MOTOTRBO Ion is an intrinsically safe product.  This package is equipped with Motorola UL-Approved battery PMMN4804.  The MOTOTRBO Ion is UL Approved to ANSI/TIA 4950 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 157-92 for use in Hazardous Locations, Division 1, Class I, II, III, Groups C,D,E,F,G; Division 2, Class 1, Groups A,B,C,D, T3C. Can I add this device to my existing cellular plan?  Yes, if your carrier offers Bring Your Own Device options, the Motorola MOTOTRBO ION can be added to any US based carrier.  

Do I have to have a cellular plan to use the Motorola MOTOTRBO Ion?  No.  The Ion can be added to the Motorola Wave Platform for push to talk over cellular capabilities.
